"5G technology will accelerate digital transformation in the industrial sector towards the realization of Industry 4.0 and other smart ecosystems," said Rosidi to CNNindonesia.com, Friday (9/4).
Rosidi said 5G technology plays an important role as a fundamental ICT infrastructure to support the highest speed, huge connectivity, and ultra-low latency services.
He assessed that this will foster opportunities for creating new digital experiences, user Eperience (UX), both for the industry sector, organizations, homes and wider digital customers.
The optimal utilization of 5G technology, he continued, will also provide tangible benefits to the development of innovations in various fields.
Then, it can encourage changes in the habits of digital service users as well as changes in industrial sector business operations that are more reliable, faster, effective and efficient.
Rosidi said the impact of the support for 5G technology would encourage the digital acceleration of the Indonesian economy in all sectors. In addition, it will be a big leap for Indonesia to increase competitiveness at the world level.
"The need for support from all stakeholders in the use of 5G technology in an integrated manner, to ensure its benefit to the wider community, such as services offered in the future such as VR / AR, digital home services, manufacturing automation, autonomous cars, smart cities and other smart services," he said.
On the other hand, Rosidi explained that the 5G technology infrastructure requires a wider frequency spectrum compared to 4G technology. 5G is also needed to support fiber optic networks as a transmission medium.
"So that the advantages of this 5G technology can be felt a real digital experience," said Rosidi.
So far, Rosidi assessed that the government continues to support the availability of spectrum for 5G with all its policies.
However, he reminded the need for collaboration of all stakeholders in the deployment of last mile fiber optic as a support for the 5G technology, with Indonesia's geographic conditions becoming a challenge in accelerating fiber optic penetration.
